Why do people with a Learning Disability still get such a hard time? its 2017!!!

so today i saw a link a few days ago on facebook about young man with Learning Difficulties was killed in the most horrific way by people that he thought were his friends, the link below is the follow up that the people were jailed for life...... is this fair? this is the second story like this i have read recently, why do people that have a learning disability get such a hard time? are people scared? they say you fear what you dont know, but come on we are in 2017! The UK is more diverse than ever-how are we going to change this? this isnt just bullying! this is murder! this guy was mudered because he was born with a leaning disability - it just doesnt make any sense!
